Draft for legal review. This is a plain-English draft that Vyvlio’s lawyer is still reviewing, so the wording may change. Words highlighted like this are details we have not confirmed yet.
The short version
- We collect what we need to make your book: contact details, your answers, the recordings and your photos.
- Recordings and photos are kept in private storage. Only your family and the people making your book can open them.
- We never sell your information, and never use your stories in advertising without written permission.
- We use Google Analytics and the Meta pixel to see which ads work. You can turn them off on this page, and we honor Global Privacy Control.
- You can ask us to delete everything at any time.
The full text below is what counts. It’s written to be read, in plain English.

1. Who we are
Vyvlio LLC (“Vyvlio”, “we”, “us”) is a Wyoming limited liability company that turns life stories into books for families in the United States. This policy explains how we handle personal information on our website, on your family page, on calls, and when you contact us.
If you have a question about it, email hello@vyvlio.com. A real person will answer.
2. What we collect
When you sign up
Our short sign-up asks who the book is for, who will join the free call, and whether there is a date you would like it ready by. A family account has up to two contacts:
- You, the buyer: first and last name, email and phone number.
- The storyteller, if the book is for someone else: first name, and their phone and email if they will join calls.
While we make your book
- Recordings of the interviews (audio and video) and written transcripts of them. We do not record the free discovery call to confirm.
- Photos and documents you upload to your family page.
- Story content: the memories the storyteller shares, our notes, draft chapters, your comments and approvals. Stories can include sensitive details, such as health, faith or family matters, and information about other people.
- Scheduling details, such as call times and your time zone.
When you pay
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly; we never see or store your full card number. We receive your name, billing ZIP code or address, the card type and its last four digits, and whether the payment succeeded. Stripe’s use of your information is covered by Stripe’s privacy policy.
For gifts and printed copies
If you buy a gift, we collect the recipient’s name and email, your personal message, and the date to tell them. For printed copies, we collect the delivery name, address and phone number.
When you contact us
If you email or message us, we keep a record of what we discussed, so we can help you and follow up.
Automatically, on our website
Like most websites, ours receives technical information: your browser and device type, pages visited, the website that sent you, and your IP address, from which an approximate location can be worked out. We also note how you found us, as explained under analytics and advertising.
3. How we use it
- To provide the service: schedule calls, make, review and deliver your book, and ship printed copies.
- To talk with you: confirmations, reminders before each call, drafts ready to read, and answers to your questions.
- To take payment, prevent fraud and keep accounts secure.
- To understand which of our ads and pages help families find us, and improve the website.
- With your permission only, to send occasional news. You can unsubscribe from any email.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as tax records.
We use story content, recordings and photos only to make your book. They are never used for advertising, never sold, and never added to analytics or ad tools.
4. AI-assisted tools
We use AI-assisted tools to help transcribe recordings and prepare first drafts. A human writer and editor shape and check every page before you see it.
These tools are provided by companies working for us under contract. They may process your content only to perform the task for us, and may not use it to train their AI models.
5. Analytics, the Meta pixel and advertising
We advertise on services such as Facebook, Instagram and Google, and we want to know which ads actually help families. To measure that, our website uses:
- Google Analytics
- Counts visits and shows which pages and steps people use, such as starting the sign-up or completing it.
- The Meta pixel
- Tells Meta (Facebook and Instagram) when someone who saw one of our ads visits the site or completes a step, so we can measure and improve our ads, and show our ads to people likely to be interested.
- Ad attribution
- When you arrive from an ad or link, we keep the campaign details in the link (such as utm tags, gclid or fbclid), the page you landed on and the referring website in your browser’s storage. If you sign up, they are saved with your family account, so we know which campaign brought you.
These tools load only after you interact with a page. They never receive your name, email, phone number, stories, recordings or photos. They do receive a few general answers from our short sign-up, such as who the book is for (for example “Mom”), whether you will join the call, whether there is a date you would like it ready by, and whether it is a gift, so we can see which ads bring which families. When you sign up or buy, we may tell them that a conversion happened, without your name or contact details to confirm.
How to opt out
- Use the “Analytics on this device” switch, just after this list, to turn off analytics and advertising tools on this device. Your choice is saved in this browser.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser (some browsers and privacy extensions offer it). We honor it automatically: when your browser sends it, our analytics and advertising tools never load.
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Change your ad settings in your Meta ad preferences and Google My Ad Center.
- Block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.
- Or simply email us and ask us to opt you out.
Analytics on this device
JavaScript is turned off in this browser, so our analytics and advertising tools cannot load. There is nothing you need to do.
Under some state laws, using the Meta pixel for advertising may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising”. We honor opt-outs as described above.
7. How we keep it safe
- Every page of our website and family page uses an encrypted HTTPS connection.
- Recordings, transcripts, photos and drafts are kept in private file storage. Nothing is publicly visible, and files open only through short-lived links for signed-in family members and the team making your book.
- Files are encrypted while stored to confirm and kept on servers in the United States to confirm.
- Only the people working on your book can open your files, and we keep that group small.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affected your information, we would tell you promptly, as the law requires.
8. How long we keep it
- Recordings and transcripts
- Until 90 days after your book is delivered, so we can make corrections. Then we delete them, unless you ask us to keep them. Before deletion you can ask for a copy.
- Photos you upload
- Until 90 days after delivery, then deleted. Photos placed in the book remain part of your book file.
- Your book file
- On your family page for as long as your account is open, so you can read and download it.
- Account and contact details
- While your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of closing it.
- Payment and tax records
- As long as tax law requires, usually 7 years.
- Website analytics
- Kept by Google for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Ad attribution in your browser
- Until you clear your browser’s site data.
Deleted files are removed from backups within 35 days.
9. Your choices and deleting your data
You can ask us at any time to:
- show you, or send you a copy of, the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your recordings, photos, drafts or your whole account;
- stop marketing emails, or opt out of analytics and advertising.
To delete your data, email hello@vyvlio.com from the email on your account. Either contact on a family account can ask. We confirm who you are, tell you what will be deleted, and confirm when it is done, within 45 days at the latest. Please download your book first: once deleted, it cannot be recovered.
We will never treat you differently, or charge you more, for using any of these rights.
10. Your US state privacy rights
Several states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and Oregon, give residents specific privacy rights. Whether or not those laws apply to a company our size, we give these rights to every customer, wherever you live in the US.
California
If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to:
- know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy;
- delete it, and correct it;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell it. Using the Meta pixel may count as “sharing” for advertising, and you can opt out as described under analytics and advertising, including with Global Privacy Control, which we honor automatically;
- limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use sensitive details in stories only to make your book;
- not be discriminated against for using these rights.
In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); commercial information (packages bought); internet activity (pages visited, ad attribution); audio and visual information (recordings and photos); approximate location; and sensitive information that may appear in stories. Sources and purposes are described above. We disclose them only to the recipients listed under who we share it with.
Other states
Residents of other states with privacy laws can use the same rights. If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer or emailing hello@vyvlio.com with the subject “Privacy appeal”. We will respond within 45 days. If you are still unhappy, you may contact your state attorney general.
How to make a request
Email hello@vyvlio.com. We verify requests by confirming details on your account. You can also ask someone you authorize to make a request for you; we will ask for proof that you gave them permission.
11. Children
Vyvlio is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and our website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13.
Family stories and photos often include children and grandchildren. We treat those details as part of your family’s private book content, with the same care and limits as everything else.
If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Information about other people
Life stories naturally mention relatives, friends and neighbors, and photos show them. We use these details only to make your book and keep them as private as the rest of your family’s content. If someone mentioned in a story contacts us, we will discuss their concern with your family.
13. Emails, calls and text messages
We send emails about your account and book, such as sign-in codes, call reminders and drafts ready to read. These are part of the service.
If you agree to it, we may send call reminders by text message to confirm. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out.
Marketing emails are optional. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is important, we will email you before it takes effect. We will never use information we already hold in a materially different way without your consent.
